Our boy has a best friend. When they’re together, all manner of boy things happen.

Last night, this was the scene in our living room.

Other fine moments….

Sometimes the cuteness is overwhelming.

Last year, the kids and I did this for my husband for Father’s Day.  I got to learn about video editing very quickly.

This year, it happens that my husband is out of town… has been for a while… and will still be gone for a bit. It was going to be tricky to mail him something, so…. once again I turned to video.

Keep in mind, this was made exclusively for him.  You might be thinking “sheesh. this is loooong…”  or “she really could have tightened up the edit”.  Yes. This was all about daddy seeing his kiddos.

Hope you all had a great Father’s Day with people you love.

My family and I live on property that includes a lake, a small wooded area, and is surrounded by fields.  One could refer to this as being ‘in the country’, but I have a problem using that phrase is it takes me about 2 minutes to get to Target.

A couple weeks ago, our neighbor wanted to liberate her ducks, which she had purchased a while back for her grandchildren. These ducklings had now grown big enough that it was time to move them from their cage to the lake, where they would ostensibly live happily by drawing upon their natural instincts.  So, my son and I were invited to join my neighbor and her grandchildren in this honorable effort.

It should be noted that the next day, these five ducks made their way back to shore and walked down a driveway to stand at the door of their former cage in a confused little clump.  The cage was later relocated to the water’s edge to help them in their quest to become undomesticated.

Is that even a word?

I saw them yesterday, still as a clump, hanging out on a sandy shoreline about fifty feet away from a group of three wild ducks.  What I wouldn’t give to listen in to that conversation.

Spring break begins tomorrow.

As is usually the case, we are not traveling anywhere over this vacation.

So I’m trying to think of fun, inexpensive things to do with the kids during the week.  This is what I’ve thought of so far:

- going to the zoo
- going to a park we’ve never gone to before
- swimming (indoor pool)
- riding the city bus downtown to visit the main library
- taking a trip to Old Town to eat lunch with daddy

At our kids’ ages, most ideas (like #1,2,3 above) are waaaay more appealing with friends along, so I’m working on that. But I’d love a few more options.

Any great ideas?
