The ridiculous truth about searching.

bible-studying

Yesterday, I read Psalm 40. Verse 16 got all tangled up in my head.

“May all who search for you
be filled with joy and gladness in you.
May those who love your salvation
repeatedly shout, “The Lord is great!”

It’s that first part, about the searching and the joy that gets me.

Joy is not naturally my first stop when I’m searching for something.

By definition, searching is fueled by desperation.

Is it possible that, when desperately searching for God, we could be inexplicably filled with joy?
Is it possible that a heart would be filled with gladness just at the very idea of moving closer to its Creator?

That is amazing.
