Something’s gotta go, part 2.

(Scroll to previous entry or click here to view ‘part 1′)

The question: which thing in the picture am I giving up?

There have been some guesses. View them in the comments here.
Some I wish were true.  Some implied a level of generosity that I wish were true of me.

One was correct.

Here’s a hint.

We’re getting warmer….

Could it actually be the purple pen??!??!?

Oh the suspense.

The answer:

NO!!!!!!

The nature?  Nature has to go? Why? Why? Why?!??!?

Yes, the answer is the nature.
And not only the nature, but the window that views it.

WHAT??!?

The fundraising part of our building process has been successful.  We will be breaking ground for a new worship center in January.  Which is awesome. I’ve been really blown away by the enthusiasm and clear-headed, prayerful approach taken by the people of our church regarding this particular project, during this particular economic climate.

The one very sad downside:  the new part of the building will sit exactly where this really beautiful garden area now resides. (So, yes, Derek, you were correct.  You win.  Everyone: I’m admitting my brother won.) The new construction will connect to the existing building in a way that takes out my window.  I am sad, because I will miss these beautiful trees, and I will miss the view, and I will miss the light.  There will be a new, possibly larger, garden area created near a new main entrance, retaining our precious ‘green space’. But natural light in the office? No such plan.

I know this isn’t about me, so I’m going to have to deal with it with grace and maturity.

I am also thinking about bringing leftover July 4 supplies to the office, because maybe I can accidentally fashion a sky light.

Thanks for playing.

  1. Hahahahaha!!!!

By the way. My all time favorite near field monitors to mix on are KRK V6′s. Love them!

Our youth room runs a little 16ch Behringer, I’m fine with it.

    and, I don’t like Midas :)

tam…. that would be awesome, thanks. I also need a tupperware lid replaced… i’ll email you the specifics.

brent(inWorship)… Only you. Only you would pick THAT TINY DETAIL in the picture. I asked Neil what to write back to you about my crappy little Behringer mixer. And I quote: “tell him his thousand channel Midas wouldn’t fit under the desk. we HAVE one, it just wouldn’t fit. secondly, we would assume that someone with his expansive audio knowledge & experience would know that while Behringer isn’t the most pristine brand, that little mixer is pretty good. just gotta ask though, what WOULD Mr Studio recommend? Oh and don’t forget to point out the KRK’s still sound pretty good.”

It’s just a bunch of ‘blah blah blah’ to me.

oh, also, honorable mention goes to miss erindanielle who also offered the correct answer in part 1.

But not to miss Jill xo who ‘claims’ to have ‘thought’ the answer, neglecting to post it. There are no prizes for ‘almost’, little missy. :)

Derek: I sent you the prize. Didn’t you already get it? Keep looking out for it everyday in the mail. Never give up hope. Plus also, windowless science classroom? More like ‘cave of death’. I’m just sayin’.

Jill xo: thanks, Joni Mitchell. ;)

Just pave over everything. Even the carpet in your office.

wohoo! I win. wait, what do I win?

actually it’s better you won’t be able to see outside. you don’t know what you’re missing if the weather is nice.

During the school year/winter I barely see the outdoors in the daylight (it’s only light from like 8:30 am – 4:30 pm). I like to think of my windowless classroom as a little ‘cave of science’.

Kenyon: I just emailed our exec pastor a ‘budget request’ for a 40″ flat panel, vertically mounted, showing a 24 hour real-time video loop of the garden in my office. Where the window used to be. I think that should do it. Plus it will be cheaper than fixing my attempted sky light, I’m thinkin’.

Chris: the trees will eventually HAVE leaves? yes?

  11. I’m going the opposite way – I’m moving from a window-less office to one with a beautiful view of a parking lot and some leaf-less trees. Ahhhh, nature!

    October 29, 2008
  12. Perhaps they could compromise and just build around it…you know how some people rather than cut down a tree incoporate it into the structure itself? Or take a picture of the view in each season and have rotating posters on the wall…How’s that for creative?
