shara… awesome to hear from you! I think you’re right. Neil calls it the ‘life soundtrack’. What’s a little disturbing is that lately we’ve noticed our ‘life soundtrack’ is what’s playing at the grocery store….

I’ve been having that “eras of music” run-in a lot lately (although not with worship songs, unfortunately), especially at work. My facility manager defines “good music” as mostly 70′s songs; the operations manager knows late-80′s and early 90′s; and I fall somewhere after both of them (with a liberal smattering of Jars of Clay, Steven Curtis Chapman and Switchfoot thrown in). I’ve come to the conclusion that the term “good music” is generally applied to whatever we listened to in our late teens and early 20′s or whatever era of music had the most impact on our formative years.

Not to derail the former conversation, of course, just to share a thought.
