7:30 am Saturday.
Phone rings.
Neighbor’s voice: “Kim, there’s a hot air balloon at the end of the driveway and they’re giving free tether rides.
Reeeeeeeally. (sound of Bontrager family scampering out the door)
Balloon basket containing our kids, plus a few others. Jonathan is the head you can barely see in front left corner. Neil is the guy in the white hat contemplating the engineering.

Deflating and stowing the balloon…..everyone gets to help.

what a let-down the rest of the day must have been. i can just see the whole family, completely pumped about their early-morning adventure and then playfully rushing back to the house only to slump into a sofa with an understanding that the day couldn’t possibly get any better. ha! good stuff.
The fact that the ONLY thing Benjamin wants for his birthday is a hot air balloon ride makes this post particularly…well…depressing! Think they’d come to Phoenix and do a 7:30am-100-degree-freebie??? Dreaming…but SO YEAH for you. Love That!
